Recognizing the Signs of Addiction

Addiction can manifest differently for each person. However, early recognition is crucial.

Common signs and symptoms may include:

  • Losing interest in hobbies or activities that once brought joy
  • Withdrawal from family, friends, or social activities
  • Missing work or school commitments
  • Changes in mood or behavior, including irritability or emotional instability
  • Difficulty sleeping or excessive fatigue
  • Declining physical health or personal hygiene
  • Financial or legal problems related to substance use
  • Increased isolation or secrecy

If you recognize any of these symptoms in yourself or someone you care about, professional treatment may be an important next step. Seeking help is an act of courage — and it’s the first step toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
